Juan Rangel [CURRENTLY NOT IN ACTIVITY]

Always passionate about music, Juan Rangel was introduced to Tango at an early age thanks to the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema. As far as he knew, Tango was an art that could probably only be experienced in recordings and films. It wasn’t until he found himself in Houston, and stumbled upon the Continental Club, where Glover Gill’s piano showed him that tango is as alive as ever. You just have to let it find you. Rangel feels that the importance is not in the vastness of our vocabulary, but using the right words to deliver an inspired message that tells something about the space and time we are occupying in that instant.

Since his beginnings in tango, Juan has grown as an established instructor in Houston; carrying weekly group classes as well as private instruction for performances and choreography. As a performer, he has participated with Dance Houston in 2014, at MECA's "Dia de los Muertos" Festival in 2015 and 2017.
